The 4th Annual Allan Nixon Memorial Tyke Hockey Tournament 2017

The 4th Annual Allan Nixon Memorial Tyke Tournament of 2017, hosted by the Shelburne Minor Hockey League, sponsored by Rodney Geyer, Ontario Land Surveyor, Ron Stewart, Everett, Boundary Consultant, Alliston, Accessories By Ada, Chris Reed, I Pro Realty,Jonathan Geiring, Sofina foods, My Crafty Neighbour, Canadian Bath Bomb company, SGE Imprints, Stellika Jewelry, R.J. Steward BSC, Boundary Consultant, held over the weekend of January 14th, was another wonderful success.
Held at Shelburne's Centre Dufferin recreational Centre, (CDRC), the bigger story lies in the very name of the Tournament. For those who do not know of the local supportive hockey icon, Allan Nixon (Above in photo supplied by Family), there is a special spot in the arena, a little spot with a perfect view of the ice that was saved for Nixon affectionately which he named Coach's Corner and true to form, attended every hockey game, practice, of his grandchildren and was a huge supporter of the sport in general. This Tournament has reportedly raised $35,000 in support of Shelburne Minor Hockey and is a beloved annual tournament looked forward to by Shelburne and area communities in support of the "game". Nixon is deeply missed by his family and community and in memory continues to promote and support the game he loved.
Shelburne's Very Own Coach's Corner
Above (LtoR) Allan Nixon's grandson, Raeburn, in the loving arms of Nixon's wife, Brenda, stand in the CDRC's sweet spot, Coach's Corner, commemorated with a plaque in Allan Nixon's Honor. Note: Young Raeburn penned the tribute to his grandfather (above) that was featured in the weekend hockey tournament flyer. " Whenever there was registration, Allan liked to hand out donuts so today, with registration, we handed out free donuts in his memory. "I'm overwhelmed the community would think that much of my husband. It's wonderful!", commented Brenda Nixon.
