Classic Car Lovers & The Stories They Tell About Life, Friendship And of Course, Love!

Pickin In The Park's 3rd Annual Event 2016 held at Fiddle Park. attracted Classic Car Lovers. Meet Shelburne resident Bob Morley, (L) with his classic car named "Fat Rod." This 1940 Lasalle Cadillac has been with Morley for 36 years and he's had it apart twice. Morley actually uses this vehicle, and that means in every regard of every day life, from every day chores like grocery shopping to hauling the trailer to the Pickin In the Park Event.
" When you have had the car as long as I have, it's just a car for me, I use it, it's my everyday car", commented Morley. "It's not new to me like it is to some but I love it." Taking this thing of beauty almost for granted, Morley sometimes forgets what a beautiful creature he drives every day.
This car has a V-8 ,400 Chevy, power brakes, air conditioning, automatic power steering.

If you get the chance to look under the hood, you will notice an unusual set of tools used to keep this car going. Soap, used for a squeeky fan belt, a long screwdriver to adjust carburator, The white instrument is used when spark plugs are firing and the socket wrench is used to adjust the idling. Morley knows how to care for this beauty!

But as is the case with most classic car lovers, an interesting back story, going twenty years back brings friends together again in 2016.

Back in the day, just over 30 years back, Morley owned a 1932 Chevy, a grey 4 door with black fenders. A friend, Bob Cornfield came to Morley with a special request for his other friend asking if Morley would drive his friend and new wife away from the church following their wedding. Morley didn't know the couple but agreed to help his friend out. Morley never saw the couple again for twenty years until they became re-acquainted through their mutual friend, Bob cornfield and have been friends ever since. They meet and camp together. Worth noting, the couple Morley drove over 30 years ago, are still married and in love, were with Morley and Cornfield during the 3rd Annual Pickin In The Park Event of 2016! Old Friends featured in photo (R) , (LTO R) Bob Morley, Dave Smiley and Bob Cornfield.

Meet Love Birds,

Dave and Susan Smiley

have been married over 32 years !

Now That Is Something To Smile About!

This is just one of the reasons Shelburne's Pickin In the Park Event is so popular-

It's full of the good stuff!

This 1955 American Chevy from Florida is ALL ORIGINAL with the exception of the tires. Owner Rudi Preuss took the beauty for a ride to Shelburne to celebrate a friend's Birthday in the Dearling family on Saturday, May 14, 2016.

"It's all original, matching numbers, engine came with the car, and it has 82,000 miles, " commented Preuss, adding, "I've owned it for five years and everywhere I go people just love it!

To see the photos below, it's no wonder this car is a head turner and a distraction to drivers! Beautiful!
